I’m working on a public health writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

1. Be sure to check out the Topics of Interest section (look on the right hand side about half way down) in addition to the quick links and see what services are available there.  Now do the same thing for your hometown. For those of you from large cities, your health department might be the city or it might be the county. For most of us, it will be the county. Find your county/city health department page and explore it fully. COVID is certainly important, but go beyond that too as you explore what’s happening in public health in your home area. Be sure to look for similarities to Monroe County and differences. Those different/similar topics might be in content (e.g., Is everyone talking about monkeypox?) or it might be in targeted people groups (e.g., low income, youth, or elderly).

2. What did you learn about your two communities. What are three things you found most interesting about your hometown health department and why? What’s one question you still have?
