Protein Worksheet

Description

  1. Using the adult recommendation of 0.8 g/kg body weight, calculate your personal RDA for protein. Show your calculations in your answer. Write a one day menu that would meet the protein requirement. For each menu item, list the food name, serving size, grams of protein/serving, and the total protein consumed for the day. Do you think the food selections are reflective of what you normally eat? Did you meet your protein RDA on your diet analysis project.
  2. Use the Internet to get information about an amino acid or protein supplement; you may also select a supplement you use at home. The protein supplement may be a snack bar, drink, cookie, cracker, powder or pill. You could also find a product at a health food or grocery store. Evaluate the nutritional benefits or concerns of using this particular protein supplement. What is the cost of the product? How much protein is in a serving and what is the cost per serving? Post a paragraph summary with your findings. Would you recommend using this protein supplement to someone? Why or why not?
